Historique :	Cette statue du 14e siècle provient du couvent des cordeliers de Châtillon-sur-Seine qui fût acheté le 12 mars 1791 par Garnier de Cernay, seigneur de Brion-sur-Ource ; en 1801, Garnier de Cernay offrit aux paroisses environnantes des oeuvres d'art provenant de l'église conventuelle, notamment une Vierge à l'Enfant dite Vierge des Cordeliers, qu'il donna à l'église de Brion ; cette statue se trouvait dans une chapelle de l'église conventuelle, chapelle qui avait été fondée au 14e siècle sous le nom de Notre-Dame-la-Grande, par Guillaume et Jean de Châtillon, seigneurs de la Jaisse
