Historique :	La protection de cette sculpture du fondateur de la congrégation de Notre-Dame de la Charité, a semblé pertinente compte tenu de la notoriété de ce personnage important pour l'histoire hospitalière de la Bourgogne. Deux portraits peints sont déjà protégés au titre des Monuments historiques, l'und propriété du Centre hospitalier universitaire de Dijon, le second conservé à l'hospice de la Charité de Beaune. Léon Michel Breuil (né à Flavigny vers 1826 et mort à Dijon en 1901) est un sculpteur régionaliste intéressante ; Elève de Ramey à l'Ecole des beaux-arts de Paris, il exposa aux Salons de 1859, 1868 et 1873. Parmi ses oeuvres, on peut citer les bustes de Vauban (plâtre, 1859), Pierre-Louis-Philippe Dietsch, compositeur (bronze, 1882, Dijon) et François Jouffroy, statuaire (bronze, 1885, Dijon).
